This volume came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court records from Bland previous hit County  next hit.

Historical Information

Bland previous hit County  next hit is said to have been named for Richard Bland, a leader of colonial Virginia's resistance to Great Britain in the 1760s and 1770s. The previous hit county  next hit was formed from Giles, previous hit Wythe  next hit, and Tazewell previous hit counties  next hit in 1861. Another part of Giles previous hit county  next hit was added in 1900.

Many Bland previous hit County  next hit loose records were destroyed by fire in 1888. All volumes and part of the chancery papers were saved.

Scope and Content

Bland previous hit County  next hit (Va.) Minute Book, 1900-1901, records all mattters brought before the court on a daily basis when the court is in session including but not limited to: civil and criminal suits, appointments of previous hit county  next hit officers, appointments of guardians and administrators, deed recordings, naturalization registrations, and court fees. Clerks would transfer information from minute books to an appropriate order book, deed book, etc. This volume was created by the previous hit County  next hit Court.
